What is emerging, however, is evidence of their harmful effects. In 2006, the experimental HPV vaccination program began and there have been at least 315 associated deaths and more than 50,000 adverse events following HPV vaccination. Gardasil: Fast-Tracked and Flawed documents the early history of cervical cancer and tracks its progression from a disease of obscurity to one of mainstream prominence. It includes the stories of vaccinated girls and boys who remain ill after receiving a vaccine purported to prevent a disease they were most unlikely to get. Lady of the Realm by Hoa Pham was launched by Susan Hawthorne at Global Local: Sharing Stories With The World on Saturday June 3 at the Eltham Library. At Global Local, Susan Hawthorne, author of Cow, and Lupa and Lamb spoke about the Sanskrit practice of shlesha, the ability to say multiple things at once. She also discussed her experiments in imaginative translations that she created for her book Lupa and Lamb. Hoa Pham, author of Lady of The Realm, and Wave spoke about the ramifications of having her work translated into Vietnamese in Vietnam and the loss of potential audiences if translations don’t take place because of political embargoes.
 
The book launch of Gardasil: Fast-Tracked and Flawed took place on June 9 and was launched by women's health researcher Dr Renate Klein at the Kathleen Syme library and community centre.
 
Robert Jensen was Australia in June. His very busy tour started with two appearances at the 2017 Sydney Writers Festival after which he travelled to speaking events in Victoria and Tasmania. It was a packed schedule and Robert was a great speaker. Book Reviews

Greenbelt is a festival of arts, faith and justice and is on 25-28 August. In addition to a book reading, she'll be taking part in The Red Tent. According to khulud, "the red tent will be a place of refuge, a place of honesty, a place of fun and empowerment. And it will be hosted by a group of great Greenbelt women."
