feminist press. This edition of the Spinifex Press newsletter includes an invitation to join us in celebrating  25 years of feminist publishing.

Are you a radical feminist, political or creative and have something to say?
Get along to 'That's radical feminism' on Fri 9 September.
We are looking for 10-minute presentations. They can be political rants, philosophy, poetry, music, art or a good story. If you want to speak (or sing or perform) send us a proposal by 5 pm Wed 3 August.

One or two sentences on why radical feminism is important to you.
If we select your proposal we will ask you for a 50-word bio note and a recent photo.

Author Sefi Atta, is longlisted for the Nigeria Prize for Literature, for A Bit of Difference

Her books include Everything Good Will Come which won her the Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature in Africa, 2006.

It was an enjoyable afternoon for the large number of us who attended The Big Poetry Read at Collected Works Bookshop in Melbourne on July 9. Ten wonderful Spinifex Poets read their work and inspired the audience.

Publisher and Co-editor of Radically Speaking: Feminism Reclaimed  Renate Klein, feminist activist Crista Gekas, and publisher and author Susan Hawthorne in discussion about this extraordinary collection of feminist writing at a Feminist Forum held at RMIT on July 12.

Bibliodiversity How do publishers shape the face of diversity in books? Indian feminist publisher Urvashi Butalia, Spinifex Press’s Susan Hawthorne author of Bibliodiversity and YA publisher Marisa Pintado discuss the importance of bibliodiversity, giving a behind-the-scenes look at how publishers curate stories and storytellers from different walks of life. Urvashi Butalia is a Spinifex author and a contributor to September 11.
