The great climate robbery: how the food system drives climate change and what we can do about it
This timely anthology by the international NGO Grain shows how food sovereignty is critical to any lasting and just solution to climate change.
Food, land and seeds: protecting them is as essential to climate justice as rooftop solar, wind co-ops, or democratic public transit. This book lifts up the voices of indigenous and peasant farmers around the world, comprehensively explaining why their fight to stop the industrial food juggernaut is the same as the fight for a habitable, just planet. — Naomi Klein, author of This Changes Everything and The Shock Doctrine
Author Events

Author of Adoption Deception, Penny Mackieson recently presented a paper at the Fifth International Conference on Adoption Research held in Auckland, New Zealand. In her book Adoption Deception: A personal and professional journey Penny gives a passionate, heart-wrenching and unflinchingly honest account of one woman’s life as an adopted person and her campaign for change. She presents a compelling argument for Permanent Care instead of adoption for vulnerable children unable to be raised by their families in the light of continuing issues of exploitation, identity loss and the priority given to adults’ wishes over children’s rights. Author and Publisher Susan Hawthorne is currently in India and taking part in the Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival held in Calcutta. Her sessions include Poetry Polyphony where poets read from their work in Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, English and a debate “Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world” where Susan is joined by Bashabi Fraser, Chandrani Biswas, and Rui Coias.
Rachel Moran author of Paid For: My Journey Through Prostitution was in Luxembourg for a conference on prostitution, advocating the Nordic model.
So what is the Nordic model?
At its core, it decriminalises the act of selling sex and criminalises the act of buying it. It also puts emphasis on exit programs for those who want to get out of the trade, including social services for the victims.

Editor of Getting Real: Challenging the Sexualisation of Girls, Melinda Tankard Reist comments on the American "pick-up" artist Jeff (Jeffy) Allen on the ABC's Religion and Ethics Website
Those concerned about rising rates of violence against women and the callous mistreatment of young women and girls - reflected in groping, street harassment, unwanted sexual demands and all the other manifestations of everyday sexism - decided the only "meeting" Jeffy should get was with fierce opposition. — Melinda Tankard Reist
