Haifa Fragments
by khulud khamis

Jewellery designer Maisoon wants an ordinary extraordinary life, which isn’t easy for a tradition-defying, activist, Palestinian citizen of Israel who refuses to be crushed by the feeling of being an unwelcome guest in the land of her ancestors. Frustrated by the apathy of her boyfriend Ziyad and her father Majid—who want her to get on with her life and forget those in the Occupied Territories—she lashes out, only to discover her father isn’t the man she thought he was. Raised a Christian, in a relationship with a Muslim man and enamoured with a Palestinian woman from the Occupied Territories, Maisoon must determine her own path.

The Floating Garden

The Hoopla's Bookshelf
featured The Floating Garden predicting that it will be one of the great new novels for 2015!

BOOK REVIEWS

Lupa and Lamb
by Susan Hawthorne

Hawthorne’s creativity transcends academia and scholarship. She wields images and emotion deftly, creating a thing of grace and beauty exquisitely balanced between scholarship, cultural history, a linguist’s pyrotechnics, poetry, and theater. — Donna Snyder, Red Fez

"I Hate Feminists"

by Mélissa Blais

Originally published in French in 2009, “I Hate Feminists!” examines the collective memory that emerged in the aftermath of the massacre as Canadians struggled to make sense of this tragic event and to understand the motivations of the killer.

I believe this book should be read by all who even marginally consider themselves feminists. MdBrady, Me, You, and Books
