Spinifex author, Patricia Sykes, had a poem feature in The Age Bookmarks section; '7 stags of observation'.
Patricia is the author of several poetry books, including Modewarre: Home Ground, Wire Dancing and her latest work is The Abbotsford Mysteries.



Spinifex publisher and author, Dr Susan Hawthorne was in conversation with PEN Melbourne’s Cynthia Troup at the Wheeler Centre las month. 

Spinifex Press opened its doors 23 years ago, in 1991, with a remit of publishing ‘controversial and innovative feminist books with an optimistic edge’. Susan Hawthorne has weathered every storm that has threatened the industry, allowing Spinifex to stay the course when many other independent presses have fallen by the wayside.

Three Spinifex authors helped launch Plumwood Mountain: An Australian Journal of Ecopoetry and Ecopoetics.
Poets Susan Hawthorne, Patricia Sykes and Louise Crisp were all on hand for the Melbourne launch of this fabulous new online journal. All three poets appear in Volume 1, which is now available to read online. 

 

Merlinda Bobis's Fish-Hair Woman, which won the 2013 Most Underrated Book Award, is enjoying great success as a musical in Manila, Philippines. The DLSU Harlequin Theatre Guild (HTG) are responsible for adapting Bobis's book for the stage, and HTG artistic director Raffy Tejada said the aim of the musical was for, "the audience to feel like they are also residents of Iraya, that they are part of the story.”
