Blue and Other Stories by Suniti Namjoshi
Come and join us in Eltham for the launch of Blue and Other Stories by Suniti Namjoshi. This special event, Storytelling in Blue: Tales from India, is hosted by Spinifex Press and Eltham Bookshop as part of the Yarra Plenty Regional Library's 5th Annual Booklovers' Festival. Award winning author and poet Patricia Sykes will be one of the storytellers for the afternoon, reading from three of Spinifex's children's books. All with an Indian theme.

The cold and drizzly Melbourne night didn't stop the launch space at Readings Hawthorne from filling up. Everyone was eager to hear about Invisible Women of Prehistory by Judy Foster with Marlene Derlet. It was a wonderful night and we were lucky enough to have a panel of inspirational speakers, here's Chris Sitka speaking on 'True History of the World'

LIMEN
All that was missing from the launch of Limen by Susan Hawthorne was one of the stars of this enchanting novella, Freya the dog. Andrea Goldsmith gave a warm and entertaining launch speech, followed by a reading from Susan. We were lucky to have the artist Jeanné Browne present, her artwork is dotted throughout the text.

EVENTS
Poetry Workshops with Patricia Sykes.
The author of The Abbotsford Mysteries Patricia Sykes will be running workshops at the North Melbourne library. This is a great opportunity for aspiring poets to learn from an expert. The workshops are free but please book.

Local Women Writers is hosted by North Melbourne library. Susan Hawthorne has been invited to do a poetry reading and speak about her latest book Limen.

Susan Hawthorne author of Limen speaks to the Australian Women Writers Challenge about 'The forgotten women's writing Festivals' that were once held in Australia.
Melinda Tankard Reist editor of Getting Real talks on the Sexualisation of Children to Growing Faith. Melinda is a founder of Collective Shout which protested the visa application of US rapper Tyler, the Creator on the grounds that his lyrics incite violence against women, read an article in The Age about events at the concert and surrounding it. The Australian examines the abuse dished out to Melinda Tankard Reist for her stance as an anti pornography campaigner and the lack of accountability for the abusers, 'Unkindness of Strangers'.
