She recalls the heady days of the Australian Law Reform Commission and their work on the recognition of traditional Aboriginal marriage, to her role as an expert witness in various cases where anthropological insights were central (including the Hindmarsh Island Bridge debacle), and her most recent engagement in a case involving the nature of indigenous relationships and the concept of a ‘couple’ for the purposes of social security law.
