Biography

Anne Thacker has been practising at the Victorian Bar in Melbourne since 1986. She practises in jurisdictions ranging from criminal and civil law to family law, equal opportunity law and administrative law. She has also practised as a Solicitor and Barrister in other states including Queensland, New South Wales, and the Northern Territory. She is currently a magistrate in Queensland. Anne’s other involvements with law have included being a member of the editorial committee of The Law Handbook, member of Feminist Lawyers and writing journal articles on topics including sentencing criminal offenders; human rights and IVF; family law and domestic violence; rape law and community attitudes; and the power of judges.
