Biography
Lizz Murphy
Lizz Murphy was Highly Commended in the 2013 Blake Poetry Prize and a finalist in the UK’s Aesthetica Poetry Competition. Her awards include: 2011 Rosemary Dobson Poetry Prize (co-winner), 2006 CAPO Singapore Airlines Travel Award, 1998 ACT Creative Arts Fellowship for Literature, 1994 Anutech Poetry Prize; plus a number of mentions.


She has published 12 books. Her seven poetry titles include Portraits: 54 Poems and Six Hundred Dollars (PressPress), Walk the Wildly (Picaro), Stop Your Cryin (Island) and Two Lips Went Shopping (Spinifex Press, print & e-book). She is widely published in Australian journals and anthologies with poems also published in Canada, China, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland, USA. Lizz instigated a poetry as public art project in partnership with Southern Tablelands Arts (STARTS) across an arts region of eight local government areas, titled Poetry: The Indelible Stencil. It is nearing completion. She co-coordinates A Brush with Poetry (with Robyn Sykes) at the Black Swan Gallery, Binalong. She has facilitated a great many workshops in the Canberra/NSW regions and beyond and has been involved in large writing projects and poetry tours.
